Private Voice lessons, audition and monologue coaching

With an emphasis on developing healthy singing/speech habits students will learn the fundamentals of singing and acting in a private setting. Private instruction will focus on breathing technique, vocal stamina and tonal quality. Students will gain the confidence and skills needed to sing and act with their innately unique voice while assembling a varied repertoire. Contact us for scheduling. 
​Tuition: $40 per half hour, $60 per 45 minutes and $80 per hour.



Improvisation/Scene Study


An exploratory acting class. Through a variety of imaginative improv games, and scene work students will learn about character, cooperative storytelling, timing and teamwork. With a focus on creating thoughtful performers this class is a great place to discover the fun and excitement of improv and scripted performance. 
This one hour class meets once a week for four weeks. Tuition: $80


MUSICAL THEATRE AND IMPROVISATION/SCENE STUDY

COMBINATION CLASS

​In this super fun class students will learn acting, singing and dancing through improv games, vocal technique, choreography and scene work.

As a proud member of Actors’ Equity and active professional performer, Maggie has the opportunity to share not only her years of training but current industry knowledge with her students. As a vocal coach and acting teacher for 20 years, she has also had the good fortune of directing, choreographing and producing multiple shows. Sharing her varied experience has helped our students further understand all aspects of theatre and achieve their performance goals.





                  ~Karen Zikas, 
Ballet/Musical Theatre


Karen studied ballet for 8 years with Michelle White a principal ballerina with ABT. She went on to study dance intensively with the Alvin Ailey Company and danced with the Hartford Dance Company. She taught ballet at American Dance Studios in Edison and at SCS for 3 years where she also choreographs many of our mainstage productions. Her gift for teaching a solid dance foundation and knowledgeable approach to individualistic training affords our students the coaching they need to excel in musical theatre dance.

As a professional singer and actress Gina's wide range of experience gives her students the opportunity to explore an eclectic array of material, while learning a solid foundation and technique. Gina has been guiding young artists for 17 years by sharing her varied professional experience and vast training.

Julie is co owner of Stage Craft Studio and event producer. Julie's love of theater began on UC's stage many moons ago where she met her dear husband Bob doing My Fair Lady. Julie went on to become a registered nurse and the mother of 5 dear children. Julie's creative energy promotes the Studio's core vision for enabling young artists to achieve their artistic dreams.

                 ​​​​​~Grace Cheney, Administrative Coordinator
 

Grace joined the Stage Craft Studio staff in August 2019 but played a valued role in the studio’s productions (Babes in Arms; Seussical the Musical) prior to joining the team. In addition to being an experienced singer/actress, Grace has been involved in theatre (production and performance) for over 25 years and has served integral roles, on stage and off, in multiple variety shows, band performances and stage productions. She is thrilled to call Stage Craft Studio her second home.


Studio Presentations


For ages 7 and up

​An exciting performance and learning experience for young artists. Stage Craft Studio presentations are run under the Actors’ Equity Association guidelines. Throughout six weeks of rehearsal, this unique opportunity will provide a preparatory experience giving young performers the skill to act like professionals in all their future theatrical endeavors. 
 Rehearsals will take place on weekdays in the evening from 6-8pm. Not all will be called to every rehearsal. Some conflicts are acceptable though tech week and performance attendance are mandatory. INTRODUCTION TO THEATRE
This fun introductory class fosters creativity and confidence while teaching young students to act, sing and dance. Learn about storytelling, teamwork and technique as well as the basics of stage performance. This one hour class meets once a week.
Ages 3-6 Tuition: $80 for four weeks

Exploring and expanding your vocal variety in a comfortable group setting.

Musical Theatre Scene Study


Act, sing and dance! This class is a well rounded exposure to the skills needed in today's world of musical theatre. Vocal technique will focus on proper breathing, placement, diction and telling the story through song. Students will learn musical theatre songs and scenes from the classics to today’s favorites as they develop their repertoire.

This one hour class meets once a week for four weeks. Tuition: $80 .

Ethan has been acting since he was 4 years old, and has over a decade of experience working with Stage Craft Studio. His varied experience with Equity theatre productions, All-State Chorus, and countless other performances help him teach a variety of skills to students.

HOME SCHOOL
MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM 
A ten week Musical Theatre technique program and performance opportunity, for ages 6 ~ 13
SCS offers Home School students a professional curriculum of performing arts technique. Each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. students dive into a well-rounded course of study that includes three forty minute classes in dance, theater and music. Students should dress comfortably for movement and stretching. Jazz shoes or ballet flats preferred but not required. Please bring a snack for our brief break. Tuition per ten week session is $200.

 Courses include…

Improvisation
Learn how to be positive, take risks, and focus on the people you’re working with by delving into the world of Improv. Students will use imaginative games to learn about timing, stage craft, storytelling, character, and teamwork. With a focus on developing creative skills and mindful performers this class is a great place to discover your confidence through improvisational comedy.

Vocal Technique
With an emphasis on developing healthy singing habits students learn the fundamentals of singing in a group setting. This class will focus on breathing technique, vocal placement and diction. Students will learn musical theater songs from classic composers to today as they develop their repertoire.

Scene Study
An exploratory acting class with a focus on developing students’ unique talents and confidence. Students will learn how to analyze character and script while rehearsing and performing scenes from classic and contemporary plays. This class investigates character development by exploring the actor’s craft.

Musical Theatre Movement
A beginning level course. No previous dance training is required. Instruction will include basic warm-up, stretches and simple Broadway-style choreography. Students will learn about the different styles of dance used in musical theatre and the great choreographers who introduced them.

Ballet 

This class provides a great technical foundation and a strong fitness routine in a supportive environment. No experience necessary. $20 per class!

BEGINNER DANCE FOR THE ADVANCED PERFORMER 

Walk into upcoming auditions as a Triple Threat​. Learn proper dance technique and terminology to feel confident as an actor, singer AND dancer. Improve your audition and performance skills. Ballet barre is followed by musical theatre technique in a supportive environment for older beginner dancers.

Each one hour class meets once a week for four weeks. Tuition: $80​
Ages 8 and up



BEGINNER TAP

This hour long class will start with the basics including a bar and across the floor warm ups.  Students will concentrate on technique and basic sounds in order to master the classical Broadway tap steps and combinations.  Tap shoes are encouraged but not required (hard sole shoes will work).  Tuition: $80 for four weeks

Ladies Leotard and tights with ballet flats preferred but work-out clothing is OK with jazz shoes. Long hair must be securely tied back off face and neck.
